The Filharmonie Brno is based in the city of Brno in the Czech Republic and stops in Lubbock on their international tour! The roots of this philharmonic go all the way back to the 1870s. This concert will highlight Czech composers, including Dvořák, and feature a banda ensemble of Lubbock Symphony brass musicians in Janáček's "Sinfonietta." Czech out the first European symphony orchestra to visit Lubbock!

American music icon John Williams will have two compositions featured on this concert. First, saxophonist David Dees and vibraphonist Lisa Rogers team up on "Escapades" from the film "Catch Me If You Can". Then we'll hear tubist Kevin Wass perform the wonderful Tuba Concerto. The night will be capped with David Cho's interpretation of Dvořák's “Symphony No. 9,” most recognizably known as "From the New World," which was voted Lubbock's favorite symphonic composition.

Shostakovich's "Piano Concerto No. 1" will welcome back pianist and Cliburn winner Kenny Broberg and feature our very own Will Strieder on trumpet. Rounding out the concert will be Shchedrin's take on the world-famous "Carmen Suite." This sizzling rendition will absolutely enthrall you!
